Soundproofing as an integrated solution at Norway’s largest BMW dealership
Hedin Automotive Stavanger is Norway’s largest BMW dealer and has now invested in effective soundproofing for its premises at Forus. Hedin has a total of 11 branches in Norway.
The challenge: sound and noise
Hedin wanted to reduce reverberation and noise in the premises in order to create better conditions for showcasing the cars and improve working conditions for the staff.
An acoustic measurement of sound pressure and reverberation had already been carried out, and it revealed values that were too high compared with the requirements set out in the regulations and NS 8175:2012/2019.
The solution
The Norwegian Acoustics Centre developed a solution in collaboration with the client, and high-quality sound-absorbing panels in sound class A were installed in the premises. The requirements have now been met, and the result is better working conditions and a pleasant atmosphere.

Tailored to BMW’s showroom concept
Hedin wanted an effective sound-absorbing solution, whilst ensuring that we remained true to their concept and integrated the sound absorption as effectively as possible. We therefore used sound-absorbing panels in various sizes, shapes and colours.
We opted to have wall absorbers custom-made in a specific colour code. In some areas, the absorbers were fitted behind open shelving, and we also used decorative elements such as acoustic panels with wooden frames.

The result
The end result is significantly improved acoustics and a visually appealing finish.
The following sound absorbers have been installed as part of the project:
- Loki TM40mm i special colour, on walls
- Eira TM40 mm in black, on walls
- Eira TM15 mm in black, in a suspended ceiling
- Loki TM40 mm in white, on the ceiling and walls of a hall
- Frigg TMAcoustic images with an oak frame, on the wall
- HuginTM table screen, grey, fitted as baffles with a wire from the ceiling
We would like to thank you for the assignment, and once again We transformed a room.
