Good acoustics make for a better experience

At a museum, you want to hear the guide; at the library, you want peace and quiet; and at a concert or the cinema, you want to catch every note and every line of dialogue. Whatever the purpose, good acoustics are crucial to the experience.

Many libraries have dedicated quiet zones where you can get away from it all for a while. But for the quiet to be effective, the acoustics throughout the whole room must be good.

Cultural Centre

Cultural centres and community halls are used for everything from concerts and theatre performances to meetings, cinema screenings and social gatherings. This places high demands on the acoustics. Music needs a resonant sound that carries well; speech must be clear right at the back of the hall; and in a cinema, the sound should come from the speakers, not from the walls. With the right choice and placement of sound-absorbing materials, a single room can serve many purposes effectively.

Requirements in NS 8175

NS 8175:2019 sets out clear requirements for acoustic conditions in libraries, museums and other public spaces. The standard forms part of TEK17 and must be complied with before the premises can be put to their intended use.

Solutions that work anywhere

By combining sound-absorbing ceilings, partition walls, noticeboards, upholstered furniture and pictures, you can achieve good acoustic conditions in almost any room. We have seen time and again how much better everyday life becomes for both children and adults when noise is reduced.

What do you do now?

There are regulations that govern the sound in all commercial buildings, including specific regulations for specific rooms. We know that it can take a while to realise that problems are caused by poor acoustics. You can do a simple calculation yourself or we can help you calculate your needs, suggest solutions and the right products.
