What result can you expect?

Acoustic result for reverberation

If sound measurements have been made in the room/area and these form the basis for calculating the required amount (m2) of sound-absorbing panels to be installed, the result can be expected to be +/- 5 % in relation to the desired result. This is checked using a reverberation measurement (RT60) after the installation has been completed. It is assumed that the calculated quantity is installed.

Often the acoustics are a much bigger problem than is normally realised and if installed according to our calculations and instructions, the result will be a significant change.

Especially regarding step sound

Impact sound is often a problem. The design of the floor divider/floor construction between floors has a major impact on the attenuation of impact sound. The problem can be solved by installing Loke DB or Eira DB in the ceiling, which normally achieves a good result. In newer buildings, it is normal to use impact sound damping elements between floors.

Structural sound where the sound follows other paths and spreads via beams, walls and ceilings will require additional measures. This occurs in both new and old buildings. You should therefore gain insight into how ceilings and walls are constructed.

Visual result

To achieve the best results, the surface must be even, clean, firm and stable before installation.
Sound-absorbing panels are porous and thus more vulnerable to impact and external influences than, for example, plasterboard. This must therefore be taken into account both in terms of the placement of the panels and the subsequent treatment of the panels.

If the surface on which the panels are installed is uneven, it will make it difficult to achieve a perfect installation with completely even transitions between the panels. The boards are not flexible and therefore cannot be pressed or bent to suit the substrate. This means that deviations will occur. For the installation to appear almost perfect, the substrate must be free of unevenness and distortion.

In order to achieve perfect installations, it will therefore be necessary to level the substrate before installing the panels. Installers and builders can normally advise on this, but it is up to the customer to make the final decision on whether or not the substrate is ready for installation.

Other

Weaknesses in the substrate and the construction behind it cannot be known by the installer. The customer must familiarise themselves with the substrate's construction and any weaknesses. If necessary, the customer must take the initiative to clarify this before the installation is initiated.
Where ceilings are covered with stretched roofing felt, this must be removed before installation. Loose paint, filler, etc. must be removed before installation.

When placing and installing absorbers in connection with fire detectors, detectors, etc. the guidelines in NS3960 must be followed.
