Through simple, effective measures, a new home in Stavanger was transformed from a room with a lot of reverberation into a pleasant and balanced acoustic environment.

In a new private home in Stavanger, the family encountered problems with the acoustics in the living room. The noise level was high, and the reverberation made it difficult to create a calm and comfortable atmosphere in everyday life. The solution was to install surface-mounted absorbers, which both improved the acoustic conditions and blended naturally into the room’s design.

An effective solution with great results

The starting point was a traditional structure comprising studwork and plasterboard. Instead of proceeding with skim-coating, plastering and painting, a more efficient solution was chosen, whereby sound-absorbing panels were fitted directly onto the plasterboard.

The entire roof surface was covered with the absorbent material Loke™ 40 mm in white, laid in a half-bond pattern in the 1200 x 600 mm format. This not only created a stylish look, but also significantly improved the room’s acoustic properties.

Significant improvement in acoustics

The result following installation was clear. The reverberation time was measured at 0.37 secondsr, which creates a quiet and pleasant acoustic environment – well within the recommended limits. By way of comparison, a reverberation time of max. 0.5 seconds in homes.

The reduced reverberation means that both conversations and everyday sounds are perceived as more natural, without any distracting reflections or noise. The result is a more harmonious space where it is pleasant to spend time.

A seamless blend of function and design

A key part of the solution was to ensure that the measures were also aesthetically pleasing. The directly mounted absorbers create a modern and cohesive look, and appear as an integral part of the interior. This makes it possible to improve the acoustics without compromising the visual appeal of the home.

Satisfied customers

The family noticed a clear difference once the work was completed:

We received excellent guidance and service from start to finish, and the result turned out exactly as we’d hoped. The difference in the sound in the room is huge, and the panels fit in really well. We’re very pleased!

A simpler way to better sound

The project demonstrates how modern acoustic solutions can simplify the construction process whilst delivering excellent results. By eliminating traditional finishing work such as plastering and painting, time and resources are saved whilst achieving a proven high-quality acoustic environment.
