Do you check that the absorbents you glue to the ceiling have the right fire class? If not, there could be serious consequences!

The right choice of material is crucial for fire safety

Widespread use of flammable materials

In our daily work, we unfortunately still see flammable materials being used for soundproofing, including various types of foam rubber. These are solutions that pose a real safety risk.

When we discover such conditions, we always encourage the materials to be removed immediately and replaced with fireproof alternatives.

Particularly serious in public buildings

Most worryingly, these materials are often used in public buildings, where safety requirements should be particularly strict. We see this in kindergartens, schools, leisure centres and similar venues.

No good reason to take risks

There is no sensible or professionally justified reason to use flammable products for soundproofing. The market today offers a wide range of fire-resistant and fully-fledged alternatives.

Easy to choose the right one

Fortunately, it's very easy to ensure that your products meet the necessary standards. All reputable products must have a data sheet that clearly shows that they fulfil fire class A or B. For the information to be trusted, the product must also be CE-approved.

Example of a flammable solution

Restaurant in Oslo in spring 2025. Flammable foam rubber absorbers of unknown origin and flammable insulation of water pipes.

It could have been in Norway and Denmark!
